This article explains how candidates of the Cambridge English Skills Test General and Business variants can view their results in Metrica.
There are two ways that candidates can receive their results following completion of the test.
The Institution or Client/School must select one of the options during the Session set up:
1. Results can be made available to candidates by selecting this option:
Results will be available to candidates, via their account, once they have finished the test and their results are processed.
With this option, the candidate uses their login details to access their account on Metrica. Reading and Listening results are available shortly after the test has been completed. For Writing and Speaking results are available from 48 hours after taking the test*.
2. Results are made available only to the Institution and Client by selecting this option:
No results will be released to candidates via their account.
With this option, the Institution/Client will be provided with the result. The Results Report for the candidate can be provided by the Institution/Client as and when required. This option should always be used for candidates taking the test remotely to provide time to check the Proview score and report. Reading and Listening results are available shortly after the test has been completed. For Writing and Speaking results are available from 48 hours after taking the test.*
*Please refer to the guidance below for release of results when running large sessions.
| Candidate volume | Notice needed | Results released in * |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 499 | None | 2 Days (48 hours) |
| 500-1,499 | 7 days | 10 Days |
| 1,500-2,999 | 14 days | 15 Days |
| 3,000+ | Please contact us | |
Institutions must confirm to their candidates how and when results will be provided.
Results explained
Results are shown with a Cambridge English Scale score and a Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Level for each skill tested. The CEFR is the international benchmark for describing language ability, which means the results can be compared to international standards.
An average Cambridge English Scale score and associated CEFR level will be provided. An explanation of what each score means in terms of English language ability is provided so the candidate can see where they have performed well, and where they can improve.
Any module that scored below 80 will be shown as Not Reported.
Any module that scored between 80-99 will be shown as Below A1.
Cambridge English Skills Test results are shown for each module, and an average result is calculated from the modules taken on each test date. If the candidate has taken the same module multiple times, their Best Score for those modules will be shown. Please note that the average result calculation will not include the following statuses: No score available, Pending or where blank.
No score available in the Speaking test indicates that the audio quality of the responses was not of sufficient quality to enable us to assess the responses. Cambridge English is therefore unable to provide a result.
No score available for the Reading and/or Listening test indicates that not enough questions were answered within the time limit for their CEFR level (result) to be determined.
Where there is no score available an asterisk (*) will appear on the Detailed Group Report and in the candidate's account on Metrica.
Candidates may decide to try again for a better result, and they can do this immediately, or after having studied further. Candidates can re-sit any module for Cambridge English Skills Test General and Cambridge English Skills Test Business again. This means they can concentrate solely on improving the skills they need.
If a candidate has retaken any of the modules, and the results are better, they will automatically appear in the Results Report.
For the result of the re-take to be linked to the original test, the module(s) must be taken with the same Institution and using the same user login.
Accessing results in Metrica
In the candidate account:
Candidates need to log into their account in Metrica using the login details, i.e., username, password and Institutional ID, they were provided with when they took the test. The username will be the candidate's email address in most cases. If the candidate cannot remember their password, they can use the Forgotten your password? link. The Institutional ID is the identifier of the Institution the candidate took the test with and it will consist of five digits, for example, GB599.
1. Log into the Cambridge English Test Portal, Metrica, using the login details.
