Accessing the attendance register
1. Log in to the Cambridge English Test Portal, Metrica: https://www.metritests.com/metrica/
2. Click on Sessions and locate the correct session.
3. Click on the blue session link. This opens the attendance register for the session.
Please note that the next steps depend on whether the session is for the Schools variant or the General/Business variant of the test.
Cambridge English Skills Test Schools
Below is an example of a completed attendance register.
Note: For the Schools variant of the Cambridge English Skills Test the Proview Link column will be empty.
- Once a candidate has started a module the relevant column will show present.
- If a candidate has not started a module the column will remain blank. When the register has been submitted, this will update to absent.
Disqualifying candidates
In cases of malpractice, you may wish to disqualify a candidate for one or more modules. Once disqualified, no result will be released for the candidate for that module.
Selecting disqualified activates additional fields for completion:
Select from the available options in the Disqualification Reason dropdown:
There is also a free text field for additional information.
Important: You must click Save to disqualify the candidate.
Cambridge English Skills Test General and Business

- If a candidate has not started a module the column will remain blank. When the register has been submitted, this will update to absent.
Proview Index Score and Proview Link
For the Cambridge English Skills Test General and Business, the AI Invigilation service flags any suspected irregular behaviour by the candidate. The Proview Index Score and Proview Link will be provided shortly after the candidate completes the test.
Proview Index Score:
- Green: Indicates a low probability of malpractice.
- Amber: Reflects a moderate probability of malpractice.
- Red: Suggests a high probability of malpractice.
When the test is taken remotely, all candidate reports should be thoroughly checked.
When testing in-centre, candidate reports with a Proview Index Score of Amber or Red must be checked.
1. To check the candidate report click on the blue Proview Link.
2. Click on Images & Screenshots in the bottom left-hand corner. This opens the candidate test journey for checking. The AI Lite invigilation service only captures images of the candidate taking the test and screen grabs, there is no video available.
3. Click on the Alert Logs. Clicking on the Alert will show the nearest screen grab of the suspected malpractice concern for checking.
The Test Day Instructions General & Business have more information about how to check the Alert Logs and examples of malpractice flagged via the AI.
Disqualifying candidates
In cases of malpractice, you may wish to disqualify a candidate for one or more modules. Once disqualified no result will be released for the candidate for that module.
Selecting disqualified activates additional fields for completion:
Select from the available options in the Disqualification Reason dropdown:
There is also a free text field for additional information.
For in-centre testing, the invigilator should primarily rely on what was observed during the test. Where an invigilator detects malpractice during the test, but the Proview Index Score is Green, they should continue to mark that test module as disqualified.
For remote testing all candidate reports should be thoroughly checked for any signs of malpractice.
Submitting Incomplete Tests
Where a candidate is absent for some of the modules they will show a s blank in the Attendance Register. Select Absent in the drop-down menu. For General and Business variants you will need to force submit the modules that were completed, following the steps below, to provide a Proview score and link to appear for checking. Once the session is confirmed, Absent will then appear for the modules the candidate did not take and the status will show as Complete.
Where a candidate Proview score and link are not appearing and the candidate was present and undertook all modules, then a report can be run to check for any unsubmitted tests. The report is called Unsubmitted Tests. The report will provide the candidate details and show any module which is incomplete.
To force submit for both cases:
Step 1: Click on the blue candidate username hyperlink to open the candidate account. Select the module that needs submitting. Select and click Submit Test. You will need to repeat the steps for any modules that need force-submitting.
Step 2: The Approve button now appears. Ensure that the correct module is selected. Click Approve. Once approved the Approve button will disappear, indicating that the module is submitted.
You will need to repeat the steps for any modules that need force-submitting.
Submitting the attendance register
Remember to Save as you update the attendance register. When the attendance register is fully updated click Confirm. When you click confirm the credit for any candidate who was absent for certain modules will be returned to available. To allow the check of the Proview score and link and to update the attendance register with any disqualified modules ensure the session is set up not to allow the release of results.
Where the session is set up with results being released to candidates, results will automatically release to the candidates when available, regardless of whether the attendance register has been updated.
